My first photography teacher
During the course of my first photography course, I saw photographs of the Sioux tribe taken by Kurt Koegler that impressed me immensely. Almost equally impressive was his idea to take photographs of this tribe when they were on the brink of disappearing.
And this was the inspiration for the project for Virtual Home: to document European regions which are dying out. Can art save villages? We think it can. This portal documents art projects happening in those regions, ranging from the traditional to the contemporary.

Radici! <‚Radici’>(the Italian word for roots, in the sense of where you come from) is the fruit of two years’ work by photographer Lucy Jones and theatre director Karen Witthuhn. It is a combination of photographs and sound recordings made in the village of Caulonia, Calabria depicting life there and the views of its inhabitants.
